The Magical Garden of Fernand

Gabby had sent my friend a letter with some photos and a note – “Give the photos to the Dazzler.  They are quirky.  You guys should come visit!”

The photos are of the Magical Garden of Fernand, in the very small town of St. Coulomb, France, on the back Breton road to Cancale.  Gabby explained how he came across the Magical Garden and Fernand in a longer letter.

Some of the sculptures in the garden are abstract, on the whimsical end of abstract at that.

Most are representational, blending regional images of Brittany with the Tour de France.

In the orchard next to his field of quirky dreams, Fernand has a solar-powered, robotic electric lawn mower.  It cuts the grass of his orchard without human intervention.  Dang!

My friend spent some time with the photos.  I think he was a little weirded out by the mannequins. At one point he looked up and said “Funny how he still calls you Dazzler all these years later.  Only somebody who knew you in those years would use that nickname.  Though it fits.”

What did he think of Fernand’s craziness in Brittany?
