Mailboxes

Whimsical mailboxes are not unique to Berkeley, but they are prevalent enough to add a significant degree of quirkiness to the overall fabric of our city.

Dainty and bold, hand-painted and store-bought.

Little Houses

From elaborate to simple, brightly colored to stained wood, stone, and brick.

Painted

Mostly hand-painted, many by children.  Most not as elegant as this pineapple.

The one on the left is welded, stacked balls.  The photos here are focus on the structure of the mailbox, not the color or design of the box itself.  Many variations.
