Yes, I know, miscellaneous posts are the last refuge of a scoundrel. Boswell tells us that Samuel Johnson told us that. I know.
But, another way to think about this momentary escape from themed groupings and single-site focused posts is to say that for this moment I am ignoring my rational mind and just accepting the beautiful and quirky without exercising a need to categorize.
So here we go. Almost without words, okay?
Colleen suspicions that this is a street map of Berkeley. I neither agree or disagree with this theory.
I took the photos to my friend. He was reminiscing about the good old days when Berkeley activists demanded the nationalization of gas, electric, and telephone utilities.
“Those were the days!”
Sure, but what about these miscellaneous photos. He congratulated me on surrendering my theme-based obsession and pronounced judgment:
Enjoyed! No ax to grind, no problem.
YES YES YES….loved the whole shebang
I think your friend Colleen is right. The sixth photo appears to be a map…but it’s a map of the east bay from about Richmond/Hercules to the 880/580/Bay Bridge junction. Near the top right corner of the photo you can clearly see San Pablo crossing under I-80 as it curves along the bay coming into Albany, Berkeley and Emeryville before making the familiar right turn onto the toll plaza. God I miss Berkeley! Now I’m seeing maps in abstract art….lol
