2526 Webster: Ceramics!

Just a minute walking east from the ever-changing, always-quirky sidewalk installations by Julie Partos Clark is a neat house on a block of neat houses in the shadow of Alta Bates.

I spent nine days and nights at Alta Bates in late 2011.  Touch and go!  Fantastic care by the nurses and doctors and technicians.  Sutter Health’s business model – not so much.  For the last three nights I was in Telemetry and had a window and wasn’t sedated. t sat up all night and watched cars driving on Ashby, wishing that I was in a car going home.  Little did I know of the ceramic quirk on Webster which we know from Google Maps was there at least as early as 2007.  Not that I had started Quirky Berkeley yet, I hadn’t.  But little did I know.

My friend avoids all discussion or even mention of my hospitalization.  It really frightened him.  He was at the moment taken with the fact that Molly from Heyday had used the word “flaneur” to describe what it is that I do.  He wanted to discuss the word, and I said we would, but what about these photos?
