People’s Park – Gentrification Tape!

I have been criminally negligent to Quirky Berkeley. I am trying to repent. I have a number of photos and pieces in the assembly line. I must and shall get them posted. As Bob Dylan sang, I can change, I swear.

We know that I have a great interest in People’s Park.

The University has made a calculated decision that now is the time to extract revenge for 52 years of liberation of almost a square block of University-owned land. They will take it back! Because they can!

Resistance to the University takes many forms. This glorious “Gentrification in Progress” tape appeared on the fence around the park a few days ago. It has a hint of Edward Abbey’s Monkey Wrench Gang to it with an added hint of Merry Prankster. It brings quirk to a serious situation.

Quirky Berkeley salutes it.
