I was in Sacramento almost every day for the last two weeks.  This was yesterday as union members and I prepared for a day in the halls of the Capital in support of wildfire legislation.

Which is my excuse for not finishing this week’s post in time for my usual Saturday publication.

To avoid the loss of 10 points, I present photos of four pieces of recent work by Doug Heine.  I have posted about Doug not once but twice.

He is blue-blood Quirky Berkeley.

His quirkiest work in my book is the airplane crashed into the roof of his Page Street studio.  Its quirkiness might mask his huge talent as a sculptor and painter.

He sent me photos of four new sculptures.

The red and black one is a continuation in the series on sub-atomic particle interaction. It’s 8 feet tall and 4 feet wide. The smaller one is patina steel on a black base and is 5 feet tall.

These two new pieces are also in the sculpture series on interaction of sub-atomic particles.

So there – this should hold you over until tomorrow when the week’s full post will appear.  And then Monday is Labor Day which means a notional field trip!

I have looked for forgiven imagery that is not overly Christian but found none.  So I’ll stick with the word – I hope that I am forgiven.
